What is art? Joseph Beuys, a pupil of Ewald Mataré, got from him a very large wooden block with the remark to make something from it. When Mataré after three days passed, the block was smaler, surrounded by a cheap of wooden chips. After a few days Mataré saw a smaler piece of wood and a bigger pile of chips When Mataré at the beginning of the week came in Beuys` studio, he found the studio cleaan and from the block of wood was nothing to see. He look questioningly at his pupil. Beuys went to a cabinet and showed him a beautiful wooden ball, saying, this was in the block of wood. erzählt von Volker Gerlach |
